It was a pleasure this month to chat with Amanda and her son, Amel about school choice and what is important to them when looking for the school that fits their family. Amel attends Reach Cyber Charter School and is about to start 5th grade. They have been a part of Reach for 5 years. They say that Reach provides unforgettable experiences while preparing her child for the future with an education that meets their family's needs.
Amanda enrolled her two sons in Reach during the pandemic. "I worked a rotating schedule and needed a quality education for my children that was flexible". She also chose to enroll her sons into Reach Cyber Charter School because of its extensive offerings. Reach Cyber Charter School is a public online cyber charter school option for students in K-12 in Pennsylvania that focuses on STEM and career readiness opportunities. All students are nurtured and inspired to find their passions and succeed in their future whether they are going into the workforce, technical school, or college.
"Every child is different. My two children are different, and they learn differently. Reach is student-centered and the curriculum is based on the needs of each student." Amanda grew to love Reach even more because of the passionate teachers that help students reach their potential. "The amount of time the teachers pour into our children and in their education is such a blessing".
Amanda also shared how important school choice has been for her family. After the pandemic, Amanda's oldest son preferred to go back to an in-person option while Amel thrived in the cyber charter school setting. "I honestly cannot express how grateful I am to have the choice to place my children in schools that fit their own learning abilities, wants, and needs. We appreciate an environment where the boys are comfortable receiving a quality education".
Amanda found her experience at Reach so rewarding that she joined the school as an employee! "I get to meet new people and talk about why I chose Reach both as a parent and as an employee."
